History of the Faucet
Do you know the history of the faucet?
Faucet, a small and inconspicuous product, is a necessary and important stuff in our daily life. It provides a better and convenient way for people to get the water easily. It is one of the greatest inventions in life; but do you know the history and origins of the faucet? The faucet has a long history that can be traced back to around 1,700 B.C. According to the Art Copper's article "History of Faucet", the faucet already existed during that period and made of marble, silver, or gold to provide water for people to clean their body in the bathroom. After several decades, people kept designing the faucet's appearance and function to make it more useful. Finally, the faucet had two handles to control both cold water and hot water that is easier to use.
In 1937, the faucet had a big change again. Al Moen, a student at the University of Washington, one day he turned out the faucet but scaled by the water because it was too hot. He considered the original design of the faucet was inappropriate and decided to make some change. He designed the new faucet with a single handle which can control both cold and hot water. It was a great concept and it really helped the faucet become more convenient to use.
Nowadays, many creative designers keep designing the faucets with different methods for different space such as bathroom, kitchen, garden, and so on. All of them have the different function to make the life more convenient.
